Who We Are

Founded on Orthodox Christian teaching, OCE is dedicated to alleviate poverty, injustice, and human suffering. It is a US based charitable organization that has been in operation since 2008.

“For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing (Matthew 25:35-40”. )

Accountability

As it is newly constituted in 2021, OCE’s independent Board of Trustees is responsible for sound governance, fiduciary strategic oversight, and direction of the organization. As the charitable arm of the Eritrean Orthodox Church, North America Diocese, it will be accountable and report toits bishop andthe Council of Clergies.

Funding

For years, OCE has relied on donations from concerned and committed individuals who have given generously and consistently. The 2021 Strategic Plan, however, calls to expand the source of funding through a vigorous campaign calling on all Eritreans across the world to join us in this sacred endeavor. Moreover, we propose to establish relationships with partner organizations to be able to help the largest number of people.

Our Vision

To meet human needs in Christ’s name without discrimination.

Our Short-term goal:
To meet the needs of Eritreans who are victims of war, persecution, poverty, natural disasters, and famine regardless of their religion, region, ethnicity, and political affiliations.
Eritreans make up the largest number of refugees in the world as a proportion totheir population.

Countries Where OCE Works Actively:

We provide immediate emergency relief to Eritrean refugees in Ethiopia, Sudan, and Egypt. By 2021, OCE also plans to work with established schools in refugee camps to help improve education as well as assist in Covid-19 related needs.
